Workshop “Creative based on Artificial Intelligence Solutions for Intelligent Automation in European Cyber Defense”

On 13 May, during the FEINDEF International Defence and Security Fair in Madrid, the second dissemination workshop of the EU-funded EU-GUARDIAN project will take place under the title: “Creative AI-based Solutions for the Intelligent Automation of European Cyber Defence”.

The event will bring together experts, institutional representatives and key stakeholders from the digital defence ecosystem to review the technological progress achieved within the project.

The main focus will be on the intelligent automation of cyber incident management, a strategic priority within the European Union’s digital defence policy.

Attendees will have the opportunity to witness cutting-edge proof-of-concept demonstrations, showcasing the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in real operational scenarios.

These demonstrations are fully aligned with the European Commission’s long-term technological vision for cyber defence.

EU-GUARDIAN is funded by the European Commission under the European Defence Fund (EDF), via Grant Agreement EDF-2021-CYBER-R-2.

The project aims to strengthen Europe’s cyber defence capabilities by developing innovative AI-based tools that enable faster, coordinated, and automated responses to emerging cyber threats.

This workshop provides a unique opportunity to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the future of European defence, reaffirming the EU’s commitment to a proactive, sovereign, and resilient cyber defence posture.

EU GUARDIAN - 5th Plenary Meeting - VILNIUS (Lituania)

Vilnius Leads European Cyber Defence: Strategic Innovation Moves Forward with EU GUARDIAN📍 Vilnius, Lithuania / Madrid, Spain – May 2025
Amid rising digital threats and the growing need for pan-European cooperation, the city of Vilnius is this week hosting the 5th Plenary Meeting of the EU GUARDIAN project, positioning itself as the strategic centre of cyber defence innovation. Organised by BPTI (Business and Technology Platform Institute), the event brings together high-level representatives from European institutions, academia, and the defence industry.

The plenary follows closely on the heels of the 13 May workshop held at FEINDEF (Spain’s International Defence and Security Exhibition), where key progress from the project was showcased and strategic partnerships were strengthened with both national and international stakeholders. EU GUARDIAN’s active presence at this key defence forum highlights its central role in the European cyber security agenda.

“Strategic coordination and joint innovation are essential to ensure a more secure and resilient European digital space.
EU GUARDIAN is a tangible commitment to smart defence built on technology, collaboration, and foresight,” consortium representatives remarked during the opening session in Vilnius.

Key topics on the agenda included:

🔎 Cyber situational awareness: enhancing early warning and threat detection capabilities through integrated analytics and visualisation tools.
🧭 Strategic coordination: developing common frameworks across nations, industry, and research centres.
🛡️ Advanced capability development: reinforcing the technological and operational infrastructure underpinning European defence.
Funded by Horizon Europe and aligned with the objectives of the European Defence Fund (EDF), the EU GUARDIAN consortium once again reaffirms its commitment to building a smarter, safer, and more collaborative digital future for Europe.

The message from Vilnius is clear: defending cyberspace is not merely a technological issue, but a shared responsibility. And Europe is already taking decisive steps—together.
